SWA Small Works National Competition Prospectus Show Dates: May 2 – 26, 2018 About SouthWest Artists, Inc. (SWA) SWA was founded in 1945 and is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. This juried competition is a project of SWA. The exhibition will be hosted by its Mena Art Gallery in the heart of the Ouachita Mountains and National Forest of Arkansas, an area of 1.5 million acres, and haven for Plein Air painters and tourists. Our goal is to assemble the finest display of 2 dimensional paintings with the highest quality in workmanship, color, value, composition, style and diversity. Eligibility - Eligible artist locations, provinces and territories including all of the United States, Canada and their possessions. International entries also accepted. Artists must be 18 years of age or older. Awards Best in Show: $500. Arkansas Artist Award of Merit: $100 – Awarded to an Arkansas artist with the most outstanding work. Animal Art Award: $100 - 2 Honorable Mentions Landscape Merit Award: $100 - 2 Honorable Mentions Figure Merit Award: $100 - 2 Honorable Mentions Still Life Merit Award: $100 - 2 Honorable Mentions Abstract Merit Award: $100 - 2 Honorable Mentions Peoples Choice: $25 - Selection will be made from votes received during the opening reception. NOTE: If possible, more awards may be added. Judge - The awarding judge is Bill Strain, a professional, long established member of the national art community, educator and retired, multi-gallery owner.
Size limitation is 20 x 18, or 20 x20.
Deadline is over 7-18-2018 for this year. Paint something for next year!
If you entered this show the announcements of acceptance will begin September 1, 2018 by mail.
